HIGH FIVE // Taylor Kearney

Today we have a high 5 with Taylor Kearney! She's taking on tips for this lovely in-between Winter and Spring weather and talks baby names! (My favorite subject) Thanks for being here, Taylor!
Hello, Taylor! Tell us a little more about yourself...
I live in Nebraska with my husband and our two, soon-to-be, three girls. I am a second grade teacher at a small public school and my husband owns his own welding business. He is currently in the process of building a brand new building so life has been crazy busy around our household. I come from a long-line of family businesses and am so proud of my husband for doing the same. I love music, photography, shopping, playing volleyball and napping. I am a professional online shopper (haha, not really). I live in a town where there are NO shopping centers, a target, a Costco, or a Starbucks. However, this is my home and I love living so close to my family.
How do you stay sane in these tricky not winter, not spring months with kids?
This is so hard. We try to get outside every once in a while by bundling up and getting a little fresh air. However, the weather has been very temperamental lately. I rotate the toys bi-weekly during the winter months (toys from the living room, to their bedrooms, and toy room, etc.) I also hold a few toys back that they get from Christmas and throughout the winter months we get those out. It’s like Christmas all over again. We also have a lot of dance parties. Aven loves the new Trolls soundtrack so we jam out to “Hair Up!” daily.
I had a good laugh over this photo. Girl, I feel you. Your other two daughters names are beautiful! Lettie and Aven. Do you pick out your kids names before or after they're born? Did you buy a baby book? Have an on-going list in your phone (my specialty)?
We have always picked out their names before birth. Aven was found on the internet (via a blog) and we knew instantly that was the one. It took us a long time to find her name though, she was originally going to be named Elsie. Lettie was named before we knew what we were having. We saw the name right away and didn’t look back. I remember always writing the two girls’ names down on paper to see how they looked and how well they went together. Now with baby number three, we are battling back and forth. I have a name that I love and my husband has a name he loves but we cannot agree on something we both love equally. I want to wait until she is born to see what “name” she looks like but my husband says no way! I will be having a planned C-section this time around and he thinks that I will be too heavily sedated to be naming our daughter (haha). Although, I hear that is not the case with planned C-sections. Lettie was an emergency C-section, and he is right, she probably would have ended up being name Betty Lou if we hadn’t already came up with a name. We have always kept their names a secret until the day they were born. I am getting so anxious to see what her name will be!
Your maternity style is so darling! What are you main staples for a maternity wardrobe?

Dressing cute while being pregnant can be so hard but so fun. I love dressing my bump. Yes, there are days when I miss my jeans but for the most part I love finding styles and ways to still look cute and trendy while rocking the bump. Here is a list of my MUST HAVES:

  1. BLANQI leggings- these are amazing!
  2. Zella Live-In leggings
  3. Basic maternity tees and tanks- My favorites are from Liz Lange for Maternity from Target
  4. New Balance tennis shoes- I have found these to be so comfortable and can easily be dressed up or down
  5. Jackets- I love paring a basic tee with a jacket or cardigan. The nice thing about this is they don’t have to be maternity so you can shop basically anywhere and you can wear it long after the baby is born
  6. BodyCon Dresses- flaunt that baby bump girl! I love wearing dresses to work and church because they are so comfortable. I have a few basic ones from Old Navy but there are so many great options out there.

With 4 weeks left, what is on your list to get done before baby. For yourself, your girls, or baby?

I am currently in my nesting stage where I decided to hire someone to come in and paint my dining room. Then I decided I wanted all new décor so I’m in the process of decorating and rearranging that room a long with a lot of other little house projects. Everything for the baby is ready because, well, I didn’t have to put anything away from having Lettie. They will also be sharing a room so I didn’t have much to do with their rooms either. And as for work, I have a lot to do before I take off for maternity leave. I have lots of lesson plans, copies, and memories to make with my students before I have this baby. But, I think the most important thing on my to-do list is to enjoy the moments as a family of four and cherish these last few weeks with my girls.

Thank you, Taylor! Best of luck in the next few weeks!
